Lossless Legs Frequently Asked Answer's
Login Issues - Why can't I log in?
Have you registered? Seriously, you must register in order to log in. Have you been banned from the site? (A message will be displayed if you have.) If so, you should contact a site administrator to find out why. If you have registered and are not banned and you still cannot log in then check and double-check your username and password. Usually this is the problem; if not, contact a site administrator -- they may have incorrect configuration settings for the board.

Login Issues - I've lost my password!
Don't panic! While your password cannot be retrieved it can be reset. To do this go to the login page and click Recover password. Follow the instructions and you should be back online in no time.
top
Login Issues - I registered in the past but cannot log in anymore!
The most likely reasons for this are: you entered an incorrect username or password (check the email you were sent when you first registered) or the administrator has deleted your account for some reason.  Users are pruned after 100 days with no activity

Downloading - Banned Client List
these clients aren't trustworthy and therefore are not allowed at Lossless Legs....

BitComet
BitLord

Downloading - What is bittorent?
If you're completely unfamiliar with bittorrent we recommend checking out: http://www.utorrent.com/beginners-guide.php and  http://dessent.net/btfaq/. You should also check out several of the sticky's in the help and how to section of the forum.
top
Downloading - Can I have more than one account?
There are very few reasons why anyone would need more than one account. Having multiple accounts is discouraged and if you're doing it so you can maintain an alternate identity with a very poor share ratio you will eventually be caught and dealt with. As one LL member has said "keep one account, stand by your identity, chat with friends, be a part of the community."
top
Downloading - Are any of the files I'm downloading located on this server?
No, that's not how bittorrent works. All the files are located on the end user's computers. Lossless Legs is a tracker which connects the clients of the people who are sharing the files.
top
Downloading - How do I download the music?
You will need a bittorrent client. We recommend µtorrent and Azureus. Some people feel that µttorrent uses less system resources. If you're running a Mac you'll probably need Azureus. They can be found here: http://www.utorrent.com/download.php and here: http://azureus.sourceforge.net/download.php. If you download µtorrent make sure you get the installation version because the standalone version won't install automatically.
top
Downloading - How do I listen to the music once I've downloaded it?
You will need a media player that has a plug-in for shn and flac files if you want to listen to them on your computer without first converting them to wav format. The three most commonly used are winamp, foobar2000, and windows media player. There is a comprehensive list of links to players and plug-ins here: http://wiki.etree.org/index.php?page=SoftwareYouNeed
top
Downloading - How do I burn the music to CD so I can listen to it away from my computer?
You will need to convert the shn and flac files to wav format before you can burn them to cd. The most commonly used programs are Trader's Little Helper, mkwACT (for shn), and Flac Frontend (for flac). A list of links to these programs can be found at the same address provided above for the players. You'll then need to burn the converted wav files to cd with a program like Nero or Roxio.
top
Downloading - Should I keep the original shn and flac file sets after I've burned them?
Yes, if you don't keep the original unaltered shn and flac files you won't be able to reseed or upload to share them with people later. Also if you lose your cd's or they become scratched then you will need to download the shows again. Since wav files are so large it's recommended that you delete them after you've burned your cd's and keep the shn and flac files. Most people then archive the shn and flac files by burning them to DVD so they can remove them from their drives.
top
Downloading - What is my share ratio and is it important?
Your share ratio can be found in the "User Info" box in the upper right corner of your screen. It represents the amount of information that you've downloaded vs. the amount you've uploaded. It is a general indicator of how much of the music you're sharing back after you've completed downloading it. In an ideal world everyone would have a share ratio of 1.0 which means they uploaded exactly as much as they've downloaded. It's important because if people don't upload then there won't be anything to download and the system won't work.

If you are new to the site and your ratio drops really low it's ok because you haven't had time to upload much yet. You may have jumped on a torrent that was near the end of it's life cycle so there was no one to upload to.  You will want to try to get it back up but don't panic. Just download some shows with lot's of leechers and leave them running long after they're finished. You'll soon be back in good shape. You will want to keep an eye on your ratio at the beginning because if you go all out and download a ton of stuff it's easy to dig yourself into a hole that will be very difficult to get out of. Most people can download about 6 times faster than they can upload so just be aware.

You should always try to leave your torrents running after they've completed because they'll usually finish long before you've reached 1. Hit and run leeching is seriously frowned upon, especially if you're one of the first to complete. You're expected to stick around and help the original uploader get a decent swarm going.

That being said, share ratio is not strictly enforced here like it is at many other sites where you could be banned for failing to maintain it. We are expected to act like responsible adults and police ourselves. The management is very understanding as long as you try to share back, participate in the community by reading and posting in the forums, and show your appreciation to uploaders by at least saying thanks when you grab a file. Above all LL is a community and community participation is more important than your share ratio. If you're downloading massive amounts of music, not sharing any back, and don't even have the decency say to thank you, you will eventually be called to account for your actions. This doesn't apply to the vast majority of users so just do your best and you'll be fine.
top
Downloading - How come I've been uploading for days but my share ratio hasn't changed?
Your stats wont update until you've stopped and restarted your client.
top
Downloading - Are my stats 100% accurate?
No, due to problems beyond our control your stats will never be 100% accurate, particularly right after you've completed a torrent. However the really weird snafus that you'll sometimes see on your torrents will eventually correct themselves, and in the long run your overall stats will be accurate enough to give a good indication of how much you're sharing.
top
Downloading - What does it mean if I'm firewalled and why should I care?
It's very important to have your ports properly forwarded when using bit torrent. If you're using a router or windows firewall you will most likely need to manually forward your ports. You can tell by looking at the indicator in your client at the bottom of the screen. If you've got a green light you're fine but if you've got a red or yellow then you'll need to get it taken care of. Everything may appear to be working fine in a swarm but if you're firewalled it means that you won't be able to accept incoming connections and you'll only be able to connect to people who have their ports forwarded. This severely limits the amount of people you can connect to and it can have a massive effect on the speed of the entire swarm. It only takes a few people that aren't connectable in a swarm to slow the entire thing right down. If everyone at LL had open ports then all our torrents would be insanely fast – especially when the swarms were big. If your ports are closed and there are only one or two other peers involved then you will probably never complete the torrent. It will also make it nearly impossible for someone to help you out with a reseed and most people won't even be inclined to waste their time trying.

If you need to forward your ports you can find detailed instructions on how to do it here: http://portforward.com/. If you still aren't having any luck you should read the sticky in the help & how to section of the forums. If you've made an honest effort to get it figured out but are still having problems then feel free to ask for help in the forums. There are many people here who will be happy to help you out. Sometimes it can be pretty difficult depending on your setup and general level of computer knowledge. Because of this and the fact that some people are behind firewalls which they have no control over we have not made it mandatory although there are many who think we should.
top
Downloading - How do I increase my download speed?
This subject is way too involved to fully address here. However, we can point you in the right direction. The first thing you'll want to do is make sure your ports are open as explained above. Then you may need to do some tweaking in your client preferences to optimize your speeds and get everything running just exactly perfect. Before you start tweaking you'll want to do a speed test to find out how fast you're connection is. You can find a speed test here:  http://www.dslreports.com/tools - along with lots more info on the whole subject. Once you know the general speed of your connection you'll want to go to the website of whichever client you've chosen and read up on the info there about how to maximize your download speed.

One important thing to remember is that you'll want to make sure you're not constantly maxing out your upload speeds. Your downloads speeds will suffer if your upload bandwidth is congested for reasons which I'm not going to get into here. You'll want to limit or cap your upload speeds to just below the maximum to ensure that info can easily flow both ways. This is also true of browsing the web while your client is running. If you find that you're having trouble surfing and everything is really slow just lower your upload cap a little and it should fix it.
top
Downloading - What's the maximum # of active torrents that is allowed here?
Members (these are brand new members or people who have been demoted for excessive downloading without sharing back) may have 2 open torrents at any time, Valued Members may have 12 and Audio Liberation Activists may have 20. This number includes torrents that are both uploading and downloading. This is automatically enforced by the tracker and if your client attempts to open more than this then they won't be allowed to connect. This is because the server doesn't have unlimited capabilities. We have 10,000 members and if the number of active torrents was not limited the server load would quickly get out of hand. Realistically speaking, unless you've got FIOS or a T1 connection there's no reason you would want more than four or five torrents running at a time anyway.

Note this site prohibits all advertising and commercial enterprise.
Any SPAM, advertising links, or offers to sell bootlegs will be deleted.
Repeat offenders will have their accounts banned. Do not post any users full name, address, phone number, or IP address.
In other words, do not post private information here.

LL General Forum and Comments Policy -
Please lurk a bit before just jumping right in.
It always helps to know the users you will be chatting with a bit before you jump in to post.
Act maturely. Don't rise to inflammatory posts.
Remember that your opinion is only your opinion and other people have a right to disagree with it, just as you have a right to have it.
Don't turn a difference of opinion into an insult fest.
If someone does act immaturely - ignore them! Usually they act that way to get attention.
Ignoring them may make them rethink their act.
Again, if the person is acting disrespectful, usually it is because they want attention.
The best thing to do is to not give it to them.
Do not just decide to attack someone.
If someone insulted you a month ago, who cares, we don't want to hear about it.
If someone insulted you on another site, we don't care, don't bring it over here, we don't want to hear about it.
If you don't like another user, fine, then ignore them.
Don't continually insult them because the rest of us don't want to hear it.
No threats of physical violence. This will cause your account to be deleted. No exceptions.
No stalking. Do not take your personal differences from one thread to another or to another site.
What happens here should stay here.
Treat each other with respect or how you would like to be treated.
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
What we do not want, is to have the Administrators having to do a lot of work because of one poster who decides to misbehave.
If you are that one poster that causes us a lot more work, your posting rights may be removed or your account may be deleted.
You may PM an Admin to discuss and resolve any issue.
Sending multiple PM's to multiple LL Admins about an issue is frowned upon and may harm your cause instead of helping it.
LL Admins reserve the right to remove any post or user account that they feel is offensive.

LL Site Rules -
No threats of physical violence.
No creating multiple accounts under different names for any reason.
No using an anonymous proxy to hide your identity.
No posting personal PMs or emails.
No posting another user's full real name or address or phone number or email address or picture.
No released material in torrents.
No offers of "media for sale", or ANY mention of money where music is concerned at LL, unless you are the legal rights holder, either in the LL forums or in LL private messages is EVER allowed:

We would like to remind all members that any kind of offer of delivering tradeable shows that is publicly discussed at LL must absolutely refrain from involving any exchange of money at any level of any transaction.
That includes any money for shipping, media, or hard drives. No money at ALL.
This includes using the forums or PM system for the beginning of these transactions, even if the rest is done in private.
If we have given any other impression, we regret the omission.
It is our intent now and has only ever been our intent to strictly adhere to the policy as stated right here. ~ LL Admins

Failure to follow these rules may get you a warning or demoted in Rank.
Depending on how many times you've been warned, your account may be removed permanently.
This is entirely up to Administrator discretion.

LL Administrators -
This site exists because of the contributions of many, in many different ways. The Admin team here is one such contribution.
There is a lot of behind the scenes work that goes into the smooth running of this site in terms of moderation, server stuff, etc.
Many decisions regarding the site are discussed behind the scenes by the Admins.
Do not disrespect the Administrators. They are all volunteers and do the best that they can.
The LL Admins do not like having to play cop.
LL is about sharing, not having to enforce a bunch of "rules".
They expect members to play NICE and wish there wasn't any need for all the "rules" you see listed above.
Unfortunately, past history has made it clear we do need these rules.

LL Administrator Ranks-
There are 5 different Administrator Ranks.
Each of the 5 Ranks uses a different color for usernames.
Each color Rank contributes in different ways & has slightly different talents & duties.
Color & Number of Admins:
Red - 1
Orange - 11
Blue - 17
Yellow - 5
Purple - 3

Number of Torrents Allowed Per Member/Color -
LL uses different colors for all usernames to represent the different member levels.
New Members usernames are Brown in color & may have 3 torrents open.
Valued Members usernames are Gray in color & may have 12 torrents open.
Audio Liberation Activists (ALA is short for Uploader) usernames are Green in color & may have 20 torrents open.
These numbers are the TOTALS for uploading and downloading combined.
This is automatically enforced by the tracker.
If your client attempts to open more than this, you won't be allowed to connect and you will get an error message.
Before you can grab another torrent, you must stop & remove one from your client.

http://www.shnflac.net/forum.php?action=viewtopic&topicid=4520
http://www.shnflac.net/forum.php?action=viewtopic&topicid=8207

Why Am I A New Color -
A username color change means your Rank has changed.
Unless you have been demoted, this is good.
The lowest Rank is rabblerouser:
You can download but you can't post ANY comments at LL.

All things at Lossless Legs are judged individually. Everything is up to Administrator discretion.
If you need to bend the Uploading Guidelines for something special, just ask an Admin first so we can work with you.
This applies "mostly" to the number of uploads allowed per day but extends to everything related to LL.

Tape Collections & Digital Transfers -

Always check LossLess Legs db.etree list to see if a show has been seeded here before.

http://db.etree.org/LossLessLegs/Rest%20-%20A-E
All new torrents need ffp's and or md5's in the description block when uploading.
New torrents with improper naming or lack of md5/ffp's are subject for immediate removal.
ONE SHN ID PER TORRENT PLEASE.
Please limit uploads for shows that are available at the Music Archive.
For most folks when seeding, it is best if you are only running the torrent which you are seeding.
Verify files prior to seeding. If no match, do not seed here.
This is a step which must not be overlooked.
If in doubt please ask first.
Chatroom can usually give immediate help with problems you encounter or questions you have.
(Link is on the top toolbar.)
Uploading and making sure it is done right is your responsibility.
Failure to follow these guidelines could result in suspension of Uploader Status.

LL NAB List - Not Allowed Bands -
We have a list of artists and venues that are not allowed to be torrented.
ALA (uploaders) should become familiar with this and review it every so often for changes.
If something gets uploaded that isn't supposed to be here, it will be removed.
If your not sure about an artist or venue, please ask an Admin about this.
We've had very little trouble with this and wish to thank all the ALA for their cooperation.
See the NAB list here:

You may PM other users at will but do not send anything harassing or inflammatory.
If you receive a message that you feel is harassing, please Forward the entire message to a Site Administrator.
When using the Reseed Button, a request is sent via PM to everyone who downloaded the torrent and these will show up in your PM Outbox.
After 7 days, they will auto delete. All other PM's you send must be manually deleted from your Outbox.
When you delete a PM you sent, it is also deleted from the person's mailbox you sent it to.

Usually this is the problem.

Your LL Password -
Make sure your password is a SAFE one.
Use numbers & letters. No dictionary words.
Once registered, you can create a safer password from your User Panel or use the Recover Password
link to be sent a new one as long as you have a valid working email address entered in your settings.

Lost Password -
While your password cannot be retrieved it can be reset. To do this, go to the login page and click Recover Password.
http://www.shnflac.net/recover.php
http://www.shnflac.net/forum.php?action=viewtopic&topicid=8475

Do not use Internet Explorer to do this, only use Firefox to Recover your Password..!
Follow the instructions and a confirmation email will be sent to you.
This is done with your previously registered email address, it is essential it is still a working email address.
You must re-enter it in the field provided.
If the email address you entered when you joined Lossless Legs is no longer working, this will not help you.
All members should keep their email address current for this reason. See your User Panel to make any email edits or updates.
This is found on most any LL page inside the "User Info" block to the right.

I Am Registered But Cannot Log In  -
The most likely reasons for this are you entered an incorrect username or password, check the email you were sent when you first registered.
It is possible your account has been deleted. User accounts are auto deleted or pruned after 100 days of no activity.
You must login at least once every 90 to 100 days to keep your account active and prevent being auto deleted by the system.

http://www.shnflac.net/forum.php?action=viewtopic&topicid=7477

If your account has been pruned, it cannot be restored.
You must start over with a totally new account.

Internet Explorer Users -
Every so often members have login problems using Internet Explorer. There is a known fix.
Do a Google search for Lossless Legs. When the site login page loads, hit Cached and login.
http://64.233.169.104/search?q=cache:hkoqJ5mtqGcJ:www.shnflac.net/+lossless+legs&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=1&gl=us
This usually happens when you toss your cookies and seems to be the only known workaround.

>>> Seeding With No Leechers - ALL LL MEMBERS MUST READ <<<
This is a big issue for LL & we have battled
with it for a very long time so listen up..!
Unlike most trackers we ask that members DO NOT
just leave torrents open when there is no one downstream. (no leechers)
Since there is NO share ratio at LL, simply leaving torrents open without any downloaders makes NO sense here & only adds unwanted server strain.

PLEASE CLOSE/STOP ALL TORRENTS when no one is downstream to receive any data.
Only NEW torrents should be left open with a 3 week window but if no one is downloading,
please STOP THEM asap.

NEW torrents are considered any that were recently added within the last 3 weeks.
Please read & download this LL News Torrent:
http://www.shnflac.net/details.php?id=dc72d3a0955475ef5c03e0071a45a203f9acf066
Closing torrents without any leechers becomes extra important if your Firewalled or NAT'ed.
Your hard to connect to & as long as your there as the lone seeder, the Reseed Button does not appear making it harder for others to get any data.
Please...ALL members...STOP those no leecher torrents you only thought you should leave open.

What is Bittorent -
If you're completely unfamiliar with bittorrent we recommend checking out:
http://www.utorrent.com/beginners-guide.php and  http://dessent.net/btfaq/
You should also check out several of the sticky's in the Help and How To section of the Forum.

http://www.shnflac.net/forum.php?action=viewtopic&topicid=417

Are Any Music Files Located On This Server -
No, that's not how bittorrent works. All the music files are located on the end user's computers.
Lossless Legs is a tracker which connects the clients of the people who are sharing the files.

LL Projects-
http://www.shnflac.net/forum.php?action=viewforum&forumid=18
Entire GD years are covered & usually only SBD sources are posted.
There are 2 types of LL Projects. Current & Re-Visited.
Re-Visited Projects are a 2nd chance for those who missed em the first time.
They get bumped to the Index page daily.
All seeds are posted @ 2 per day per Project. Each Project has it's own Icon you can click on to see more.
Members are asked to jump on & help seed if they can.
There is a Project dropdown box on the Torrents page near the Search field & Projects can be Searched.
Project seeds are usually suspended on Sundays which are reserved for Jazz Sunday.

How Do I Download  -
You will need a bittorrent client. We recommend µtorrent for pc users.
If you're running a Mac you'll probably need Azureus/Vuse.
They can be found here:
http://www.utorrent.com/download.php  and here:
http://azureus.sourceforge.net/download.php
If you download µtorrent make sure you get the installation version & set up your Directory.
http://www.shnflac.net/forum.php?action=viewtopic&topicid=7928
Be sure to say Thanks to the uploader.
http://www.shnflac.net/details.php?id=d4816052f9cce4ebf1db4afcf8dce435b763f406

How Do I Increase My Download Speed -
The first thing you'll want to do is make sure your ports are open.(see info elsewhere)
Next, you'll need to do a speed test to find out how much total bandwidth you have for both DOWN & UP.
http://www.dslreports.com/tools
(your ISP can tell you this too but DO NOT mention bittorrent if you call them about this)
As a general rule, set your download amount to 75% of your TOTAL DOWN bandwidth.
Do the same thing for your upload amount.
Set it to 75% of your TOTAL UP bandwidth.
Generally your download amount will be higher than your upload amount so the numbers are different.
The speed test will show you this.
You do NOT want to use the unlimited setting.
It will cause things to choke & slow down.
If you're having trouble surfing the web, lower your upload cap a little more & that should fix it.
Next, do some tweaking in your client preferences.
Go to your client's website and read up on  maximizing your speed.

LL Banned Client List -
Mainline
BitComet
BitLord
TomatoTorrent
These clients are not allowed at Lossless Legs for various reasons.
There may be others not shown here.

There is lot more info on these matters found in other LL places.

Closed ports are bad and they can be very tough to open or configure to maximize the full potential of bittorrent.
Members are encouraged to correct this and to ask for help if needed.
Don't give up. It can be done.
We have helped many members who invested the needed time and patience to open their ports.
http://www.shnflac.net/details.php?id=4b1cff4b7f239754112edb74df3e8026caf82609
When done, you will see a world of difference and the frustration will have been worth it.

Archiving -
Why should I save the original shn and flac file sets after I've burned them?
If you don't keep the original unaltered shn and flac files you won't be able to reseed or upload to share them with people later.
Also if you lose your cd's or they become scratched then you will need to download the shows again.
Most people archive/save the downloaded shn and flac files by either storing them on external hard drives or by burning them to blank DVD's.
Many people do both and store back up files on duplicate hard drives.
http://www.shnflac.net/forum.php?action=viewtopic&topicid=6537&page=1
Since wav files are large it's recommended that you delete them after you burned your cd's and keep the shn and flac files.

How To Reseed -
You may get many requests for something you have downloaded from LL.
These requests appear in your LL Inbox (PM) as a "Reseed Request" & comes with a *LINK* to what's being asked for.
This is another LL member asking for your help to get a show that you have downloaded.
To help them out, all you need to do is:
1. have the show on your hard drive exactly as you downloaded it with NO CHANGES made to it.
2. follow the sent *LINK* to the torrent.
3. click on the torrent as you would to download it again.
4. point your client to the place you have it saved to on your pc.

Your client will auto check the data to 100% & begin to upload it.
http://www.shnflac.net/forum.php?action=viewtopic&topicid=1115
Congratulations, you're reseeding..!
http://www.shnflac.net/forum.php?action=viewtopic&topicid=2252
The BEST practice is to ALWAYS be sure the MD5 verifies before any attempt to reseed.
Verify the checksums FIRST then begin the 4 steps above.
There is a Forum to post open reseeds in so more members can see reseeds & jump on.
http://www.shnflac.net/forum.php?action=viewtopic&topicid=5197

Ask For A Reseed -
LL has a unique torrent feature, the *Reseed Button.
You'll see it on any LL torrent details page that has no seeders.
(it's at the very bottom of the page)
If you do not have a show or source & would like to get it, BEGIN THE DOWNLOAD process as you usually would.
Now that your ON the torrent as a downloader, go back & click that Reseed Button you saw before.
You just asked for a reseed.
The site PM system auto sends your request out to everyone here who has downloaded that source.
All ya need to do now is sit there ON THE TORRENT & WAIT for a seeder to kindly upload it for you.
It may take a few hours or a few days to get your reseed, just wait it out.
It is very important to BE THERE ON THE TORRENT WAITING once you ask for something.
http://www.shnflac.net/forum.php?action=viewtopic&topicid=6734
When you use the Reseed Button, all the members your request went out to can be seen in your PM Outbox as sent messages.
It should be noted that these sent messages will auto delete in 7 days even if you didn't get the show.
http://www.shnflac.net/forum.php?action=viewtopic&topicid=4631
You can manually delete them from your Outbox yourself at any time.
*Besides the Reseed Button, there is an ISO Forum you can post in.
http://www.shnflac.net/forum.php?action=viewforum&forumid=4

The LL Reseed Button -
Please note that your ONLY allowed to use the Reseed Button ONCE EVERY 24 HOURS.
If you pushed it 23 hours ago the Reseed Button will NOT be seen again on ANY torrents for another hour.
It VANISHES COMPLETELY until the 24 hour time period has expired then it returns & you can see & use it again.
http://www.shnflac.net/details.php?id=970c650e38609fd8270974f535cb8c754c671cbe

Requesting Reseed Etiquette -
Get on the torrent FIRST,
THEN use the Reseed Button to ask for a reseed.
http://www.shnflac.net/forum.php?action=viewtopic&topicid=6734
It's easy to use the Button but unless you get ON the torrent FIRST, no one will see you there waiting for help & no one will bother to send you any data.
YOU MUST BE THERE ON THE TORRENT WAITING or you will not get the reseed.
Be courteous of the reseeder.
Don't have 14 torrents on 4 different sites running.
Make sure you can pull a healthy bit of data from the reseeder & send a Thanks PM when someone helps you out.

How Do I Burn To CD -
You will need to convert the shn and flac files to wav format before you can burn them to cd.
The most commonly used programs are Trader's Little Helper, mkwACT (for shn), and Flac Frontend (for flac).
A list of links to these programs can be found at the same address provided above for the players.
You'll need to burn the converted wav files to cd with a burning program of your choice.
There are programs you can purchase, or there are many free ones to choose from.
More detailed information on burning all other audio formats such as DVD-A and 24 bit files can be found by searching the Help & How To Forum.

LL *Vines -
These are usually done by geographic location and broken up into multiple lists.
When signing up for a vine you will be required to post the following information:
Your LL login name and your geographic location meaning the State you live in or the Country you live in if you live outside the US.
Be sure to sign up under the appropriate list: Northwest USA, Central USA, Southeast USA or World. (International)
When adding your name to a vine BE SURE to use the LAST POSTED LIST in the thread. (This is very important..!)
If you do this before the last posted list you will be cutting people off of the list.
Copy and paste the ENTIRE LIST into your reply adding your info to the bottom of the list.
Please copy ALL of the list, not just the "N. American" or "Int'l" part.
Prior to mailing the order WILL BE restructured to provide the most logical path.
Once you have signed up for a vine and the mailing list order is final, IMMEDIATELY PM or email your address to the person above you on the list.
It is not their job or the moderators job to track you down.
If they do not have your address when they are ready to send out the discs you WILL BE SKIPPED or dropped from the vine completely.
THERE SHOULD BE NO STALLING VINES WHILE “WAITING FOR A MAILING ADDRESS.”
Once you sign up for a vine it is a good idea to bookmark the link.
When you receive the vine it will be easy to find the thread and UPDATE IT!!
Please do not sign up for more vines then you can handle.
*Vines of artists that do not allow TRADING isn't allowed. Ask about this if you're not sure.

Receiving and Sending Vines -
Once you have received the vine please try to resend it within 72 hours.
If for whatever reason you are unable to do this, PLEASE COMMUNICATE and Update the thread.
It is REQUIRED that you post an in/out date in the thread after your name using the following format: In 3/17 - OUT 3/18
If you are ready to send the discs out and you have not received an address from the person below you….SKIP THEM!
Contact the person below them and get their address and send the discs on to them.
The key is to keep the vine moving along as quickly as possible. Do not stall a vine waiting for a mailing address.
If you have been skipped due to lack of communication and you still want to participate, your name may be added to the END of the list.
You may NOT add your name to the vine again ahead of others.
Handle the discs with care.
Remember these vines are supposed to do a lot of traveling and still be functional months down the road.
You must use protective sleeves/CD envelopes and bubble mailers when sending out discs.
Burn copies of the discs for yourself and send the ORIGINAL discs on unless you receive discs that are in bad shape.
If you need to re-burn a copy of the original seed, communicate this in the thread and use only high quality media.

Vine Rules -

Original Vine Rules - MUST READ -
http://www.shnflac.net/forum.php?action=viewtopic&topicid=298

How Do I Start A Vine Rules -
1. All prospective vines MUST be sent to norm via PM. If his reply is favorable or has comments, apply them and post the vine per the following.
   A. No vines will be accepted that contain material that can be torrented here at Lossless Legs. If you want a show(s) post it in the appropriate forum, surely you will get it seeded, so long as someone here has it.
   B. If you have sets of DVD's you would like to vine because you don't have the bandwith to seed them, let oleo86 know that.  We may potentially have the DVD's distributed and a seeding schedule created.
   C. Vines are going to consist of non-btat material only.

How To Start A Vine Instructions -
1. When starting a vine the first thing posted should be the info file. Including the show, band, date, lineage, setlist, notes.Link shnid or show id at etree
2. Most important, especially if there is no shnID  or showID from etree.org is the lineage. any questionable wav's or generations should be checked by the LL staff to make sure it's not lossy.
3. The last person who seeds the show MUST be willing to reseed it if it gets damaged/broken/stolen/eaten by the dog. This is so that the original person who seeded it won't have to seed it again. Once is enough.
4. Once a vine is inactive for a month it will be terminated.
5. Finally a second or final post, seperate from show info, will be a signup for the vine.

Here is what needs to be INCLUDED ON every actual vine list at the top >
Vine Structure and Rules
1. Copy and paste the entire structure and rules with each signup.
2. Sign up by username and include state next to name.
3. Don't sign up if you can't turn this around quickly. (2 or 3 days)
4. Update the vine when you mail out the disc.
5. Skip anyone known to be unreliable or fails in prompt communication.
6. Contact person above you with mailing address once order is final.
7. Label envelope in bottom left corner and disc/s as to contents.

B&P Rules and FAQ -
B&P stands for Blanks and Postage.
It's a good way for a beginning trader to get started with their collection.
Usually someone will post asking for or offering a B&P from their list or of a specific show.
If you are interested, you reply to the person with a PM or email.
They will then send you their mailing address and any other specifics about the B&P offer.
You, in return, send your B&P package to them in a timely manner.
This is a great way for people to help spread the music.
If you are In Search Of a specific show and would like someone to offer you a B&P for it, then you should post in the ISO Forum.
Please be aware that no one should be asking you for money in order to do a B&P.
If someone does ask you for money please report this person to a Moderator.
Complete B&P instructions can be found here:
http://www.mcnichol.com/bnp/

If I Can't Find an Answer Here -
First, make sure your problem is not already in this FAQ.
Second, read the sticky Forum topics & Search the Forums.
Some information that hasn't been added to the FAQ may be found there.
If you still need help with something, ask in Chat or post in the Forums.
Provide some details like what client you use, what's your OS & what is your network setup.
What exact error message do you get if any.
What torrents you are having problems with.
The more you tell us the easier it will be to help you.

How Do I Post Images-
Put your photos up on a site like Imageshack or Photobucket, each photo gets its own web address.
Copy the web address into a forum post, TYPE after it, and the image will appear for all to see.
Don't put in ANY spaces between ANYTHING inside the brackets.
